This pond is home to ducks and geese, while laurels and rhododendrons grow abundantly nearby. You can get ready before your ceremony in comfortable rooms with vintage touches. With many scenic ceremony sites, this flexible venue can accommodate varied wedding sizes, from intimate gatherings to larger groups of up to 150 guests. Outdoors guests can enjoy the slate patio complete with rocking chairs and a fire pit. The estate is wheelchair-accessible and offers on-site parking with the option of a shuttle. History The Ellis family has managed the Pond ever since Patrick’s father, Dr. George Ellis, built it in 1972 to provide water for pasture and horses. Patrick and Lisa Ellis had their farmhouse built by the Pond in 2010. In July 2019, they made the property available for other couples to enjoy their special celebrations. Location The Pond at Laurel Cove is located minutes from the town of Old Fort, a half hour from downtown Asheville, and under two hours from Charlotte. Visitors from out of state can expect similar driving times from Asheville Regional Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Local natural attractions include Catawba Falls and Mount Mitchell within Pisgah National Forest.
