Lovely historic setting, walkable to Jazz Festival and attractions of the city. Felt very safe. Hotel is in excellent location, room was clean and functional and staff was courteous. We booked four nights while in the Monterey area. The hotel is clean and the staff was very friendly. Our room was priced right and the location is excellent. Parking is very convenient. The Monterey Hotel is a 113 year old historic hotel in downtown Monterey. With Victorian style rooms with hand-carved wood furnishings, antiques, marble bathroom floor and plantation shutters, "vintage" is the word that best describe our hotel with 45-rooms, including 6 suites. We also have a new expansion that recently opened with the architecture of William Weeks original vision as the exterior and the interior maintains some of the old world charm with some new world modern touches. Our "historic" rooms are charming with high ceilings, crown moldings, beautiful armoires and a turn back into time. Our "new wing" are furnished and with decor blend that contemporary and traditional design to create elegant luxury and comfort
