Experience history! The St. George Residence Hotel opened its doors in April 2007 in the Castle District of Buda as the first luxury apartment hotel in Budapest. A 14th century building houses the hotel, which in the 18th century functioned as an Inn and had been the most famous place for an overnight and entertainment in the Buda Castle District. During the restoration and reconstruction of the historic building: ÔÇó 26 suites, ÔÇó a cosy courtyard, ÔÇó a restaurant and caf├®, ÔÇó banquet halls ÔÇó and a medieval wine cellar have been constructed. The 700-year old building and 200-year old hotel deservedly bears the title of the oldest hotel in Budapest. LOCATION The St. George Residence Hotel is situated on a UNESCO World Heritage Site called Budav├ír or the Castle Hill of Buda. Castle Hill, a 1km-long limestone plateau towering 170m above the Danube, contains Budapest's most important medieval monuments and museums. It is the premier sight in the capital, and with its grand views and so many things to see. Below is a 28km network of caves formed by thermal springs that were supposedly used by the Turks for military purposes, as air-raid shelters during WWII, and as a secret military installation during the Cold War. The walled area consists of two distinct parts: the Old Town to the north, where commoners lived in the Middle Ages; and the Royal Palace, the original site of the castle built in the 13th century. ACCOMMODATION The 26 spacious suites are suitable for accommodation of groups up to 26 persons in suites for single and 52 persons in suites for double occupancy. The suites comprised of a living room, bedroom, bathroom (some of them with Jacuzzi), an equipped kitchenette and are luxuriously furnished with Empire or Chippendale furniture appropriate for the needs of all ages. They are available in 4 categories (bronze, silver, gold, diamond) and due to the historic nature of the building they are different even within the same category, which is why each of them has its unique atmosphere. DINING The St. George Restaurant & Caf├® reminds the atmosphere of Buda at the end of 18th century. The menu includes dishes of Hungarian and International cuisine, while the daily special offers the opportunity to taste seasonal dishes. MEETINGS & BANQUETS The baroque style Gold Aries and Mirror banquet halls as well as the 700-years old medieval wine cellar could be excellent venues for private dining, banquets, weddings, corporate events, business lunches or dinners from 2 to 80 persons.
