Waconda Lake is six miles east, 12, 500 acres of water and 13, 000 acres of surrounding recreation area accessible to the public. The world's largest ball of sisal twine is eight miles east in Cawker City, the town of Downs has a restored Carnegie library and railroad depot. The Sod and Stubble self tour of early Sod houses originates in Downs too. The geographical center of the United States is 22 miles north of Downs near Lebanon, KS where you can also get a $1.75 hamburger in the local grocery store. There are several golf courses within 15 miles of the cabins too.

The last 1930's era "tourist cabins" in Kansas still renting rooms nightly. We have nine cabins with 26 total beds.we have five cabins with two twin beds. Each of these rooms has an XL twin as well as a regular twin. We have one room with a twin and a queen foam/gel mattress bed. Two rooms with two sets of double size bunk beds with foam/gel mattresses, and one room with three double size bunk beds with gel/foam mattresses. Each room has a mini fridge, microwave, small flatscreens, and in room free WiFi, shower, linens, and bath amenities. We have an adjacent 1.5 acre "shady grove" lot for picnics parking trailers, pet walks, etc.
