Hearst Castle, Morro Rock, Morro Strand Beach, Montana de Oro State Park, Morro Bay State Park, kayaking and hiking.
I found that all of the staff was warm and friendly. Breakfast was nice. Rooms were very clean. I would easy stay here again. Excellent! Nice and clean hotel! La Serena is the loveliest place to stay in Morro Bay. The La Serena Inn is a great Inn, Motel or Grand Hotel in Morro Bay with great mattresses and beds. Audubon would have loved the beautiful birds and beautiful bird watchers. The Bird Friends Inn is for folks who want to relax, fish, kayak, play golf, hike the many trails, or do photography. There are good restaurants, shops to explore, and Hearst Castle is near, just up the road a piece. Wine tasting and wineries are very big in Morro Bay and the San Luis Obispo area. A quick drive and you can do some of the best wine tasting in California, locally and at Central Coast region wineries, also very near to us. Environmentalists love Morro Bay estuary, lagoon and bird sanctuary and you will too. Poor Audubon couldn't make it, but you can! There are several good hotels and motels in Morro Bay. Our La Serena is one of the best, a prime lodging in a prime location, just a block off Main Street and two short ones to the waterfront. This is a quality lodging, very affordable.A three-story building with parking beneath and interior corridors, it's as secure as a fortress, but spacious and warm inside. There are grand rooms and suites, professionally decorated, several with fireplaces, balconies & ocean views; and budget accommodations that are attractive and functional. This is a Three Diamond Triple A rated place. It should rate Four! The Morro Bay Area is one of the great ecological centers of the California coast and is a spectacular site for bird lovers. But remember, as we at La Serena transition into more environmental-ecological awareness, we're not changing what we have always been: a first class lodging with the same variety of accommodations and good-sized rooms and ocean-view suites as before. We're even upgrading our quality mattresses, with more Tempur-Pedics (see our beds) and our elegant breakfast room has been redecorated and improved. And, for those who appreciate the wealth of bird life in our area, a new awareness and emphasis. What was here before remains, and what is new is here to enrich your experience if you choose to imbibe. So, valued return guests and new visitors, prepare to get a little drunk on our new epiphany, or if for you it's for the birds, give it a passing glance and enjoy La Serena as it is and will be, better than nearly anyplace and better than it was. And we're near, so very near, to the wineries and charms of those Central valley and Central coast places with these exotic names: Atascadero, Moonstone Beach, San Luis Obispo, Cambria, San Simeon, Paso Robles, Cayucos, Avila Beach, Pismo Beach and the dream Beach of the Seven Rivers. One may contemplate and dream upon those names a moment or two, and wonder from whence they came.
