Geoffrey’s Inner Circle is a multidisciplinary arts venue and Black cultural center which uplifts and promotes Black culture and art forms in Oakland, targeting youth, seniors, and low-income populations. Since the late 1970s, they have consistently produced music and comedy shows, educational programs, jam sessions, community events, political events, and panel discussions on issues facing the Black community. Their initiatives have ranged from Sunday jazz concerts to free holiday dinners for Oakland’s low-income community. In 2021, Geoffrey’s also collaborated with Faye Carol and Oakland rapper Mistah F.A.B. to host a free Black History Month livestream for over 20,000 Oakland Unified School District students. The event, which was supported by the City of Oakland Cultural Funding program, featured live music performances and a segment on Oakland’s Black musical history.
