The room was nice and very clean. It was worth the low price we paid! The room was cozy and clean, reminded me of a little bedroom. We had a great experience; will probably book again. Clean, room retro decorated, close to downtown. Friendly couple own and operate. We would definitely stay here again. Very reasonable rates. We enjoyed a comfortable stay at Big Bear Lodge. We enjoy mom and pop places and this one was quite nice! I would definitely recommend this place and I would definitely stay again if I come back to Alpena. Very nice and clean place. Nice hotel, conveniently located. Well kept and clean motel with many of the big chain amenities including attractive pricing, continental breakfast, picnic tables and grills, kids play area and front yard swings for watching the bay. Rooms are all on the main floor so no steps or walking, parking available right in front of the room. Across the street is the beach and volleyball courts and a great walking park. Our suites have full kitchens and kitchenettes, and there are rooms with two full double beds and other rooms with one queen bed each. All rooms are equipped with a refrigerator, microwave oven, cable TV and complimentary coffee and coffee pot. We are located close to restaurants including one right next to our property. Pizza and other fast foods and also the mall are all within walking distance, yet the location is very peaceful with the best view of Thunder Bay in town.
