About

eVentGuru Insight The Alexandria Kleztet delivers a vibrant musical fusion! With their award-winning blend of traditional and diverse styles, their tunes promise an energetic, one-of-a-kind experience that sticks with you. About Seth Kibel The Alexandria Kleztet is a band that has been mixing up traditional Eastern European and Jewish music with all sorts of different styles for more than ten years now. Our music takes old melodies and songs, gives them a new twist, and adds jazz, classical, world beat, rock, and other kinds of music to make something special and fun. We're based around the Washington/Baltimore area, and we've played in lots of places around the Mid-Atlantic region. We've had regular shows at the Kennedy Center and the Peabody Institute. We even started playing outside the country in 2007 at a festival called Semanas Musicales in Chile. Our leader is Seth Kibel, who plays woodwind instruments. The rest of the band is made up of Helen Hausmann on violin, Scott Harlan on bass, and Tim Jarvis on percussion. We just put out our fourth album called "Peace, Love, and Coffee." It's got six songs that we wrote ourselves and some new versions of old tunes. We've even jazzed up songs by Kurt Weill and John Williams. We're really proud to have won fifteen Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies)! These awards cover things like being the best in world music, the best instrumentalists, and the best recordings. A magazine called Sing Out said some really nice things about us back in 2006, saying that with our leader, Seth Kibel, we're on our way to becoming big international stars.
