Founded in June of 2015, the "Hot Club of SRQ" has quickly established itself as the premiere "Gypsy Jazz"/ Parisian Swing ensemble of the South. Our distinction is the focus on the violin as its main melodic voice and a bouncy and energetic rhythm section of guitar(s) and up-right bass. We play music that is deeply rooted in the style of the legendary "Quintette du Hot Club de France". Our violinist has a velvety voice reminiscent of Cab Calloway and Louis Armstrong. (Malcolm Chrupcala) We specialize in 20's, 30's, 40's Jazz. For a more Early American Jazz feel we can add soprano saxophone, clarinet, mandolin and drums. We can also integrate Latin styles such as flamenco, samba, bossanova, bolero, tango, cha cha and mambo.
