
The 949 band is a 5 person band that performs for weddings, receptions, corporate events, private parties, festivals, etc. We provide Top 40s, Pop, Country, Classic Rock from Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran to Billy Joel or the Zac Brown Band. Perfect for dancing or just listening.
949 Band is a group of very talented musicians and singers that came together in their church and then formed this Popular Music Band. Geoffrey White has been playing professionally with bands since he was in high school .He brings his extensive experience to the 949 band. Geoff plays keyboards , drums and sings. Brenda Myers Imel plays bass, acoustic guitar and sings, as well as serves as the band's organizer. Brenda’s formal musical training was at SOCJC performing in choir and show choir on a vocal scholarship. The group “Crossover” was Brenda’s former group who are members of the Oklahoma Opry Hall of fame. Brenda also is the mother of Matt Cowell who is the lead singer and lead guitar player for 949. Matt also jumps in on acoustic guitar and drums when needed. He has performed professionally for the last 8 years all over Oklahoma and Texas during and after attending acm@UCO training as a vocal major. Matt was a second round contestant on “The Voice”. Jessica Brodmerkel is a long time friend of the other three members. Jessica’s formal musical training was at UCO where she played in the orchestra and attended school on a violin scholarship. In 949 Band she plays drums and violin and sings.
Each of the members of 949 Band brings their own special talent and love of certain types of music to the band. Brenda feels that is why their music is so eclectic. In one performance you could hear "Uptown Funk' by Bruno Mars, "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran, "Long White Cadillac" by Dwight Yokum, "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison and "At Last" by Etta James.
From Pop to Blues to Country and back to Classic Rock 949 Band is the band to entertain wherever music is needed.
