I loved seeing the photos in the hallway and the decor was very nice. I was in the John Wayne suite and even played the 33 records on their phonograph. I truly enjoyed the ambiance of the "Old West". Staff was friendly and food very good. Restaurant staff was excellent. Good food and very comfortable surroundings! Loved the history! Date appropriate rooms lived up to the historic hotel! Very relaxing. Stay here often, the rooms, food and service are great! Very unique and interesting hotel. Enjoyed the beautiful fireplace. Awesome; old movie star pics, carpets to die for, nice restaurant and a great staff. The historic El Rancho hotel was built in 1936 and opened its doors in 1937. It was the hotel to the stars with movie greats like John Wayne, Cary Grant, Dean Martin and Lucille Ball staying here while filming. The El Rancho kept it old west charm, while celebrating both the Navajo and Spanish roots this area is well known for. We have an authentic trading post featuring local jewelry and pottery and of course the famous route 66 merchandise. Our restaurant serves Mexican-American food, and features New Mexico wines. The 49er Lounge is a great place to relax, enjoy a New Mexican Beer or spirit.
